Kees van der Westen Spirit Triplette — 3-Group Flagship

The Kees van der Westen Spirit Triplette is a state-of-the-art, hand-built multi-boiler espresso machine — and one of the most coveted showpieces in specialty coffee. The Triplette is the three-group version of the Spirit, engineered for very high-output bars that want extreme precision, enormous capacity, and a machine that turns the counter into a destination.

Hand-assembled in Waalre, Netherlands, the Spirit gives each group its own large, independently controlled brew boiler, fed by heat-exchanger pre-heating for industry-leading thermal stability. Add progressive pre-infusion that ramps smoothly to full pressure, dual pumps, and KvdW's unmistakable industrial-art design, and you have a true flagship for award-winning cafes and world-class roasters.

Why the Spirit Triplette

  • Independent brew boiler per group — each group has its own large dedicated coffee boiler (around 2.1L) with its own PID, for the most stable brew temperature in the industry.
  • Huge steam capacity — a large copper steam boiler (roughly 19.5L on the Triplette) with over-rated heating delivers relentless steam for back-to-back milk.
  • Progressive pre-infusion — pressure starts low and ramps smoothly up to full extraction, minimizing channeling for cleaner, more consistent shots.
  • Dual pumps — one pump for extraction and one to refill the steam boiler, so brew pressure is never disturbed during the busiest service.
  • Bastone or touchpad — activate groups via KvdW's signature Bastone lever or a programmable touchpad, with eco mode and auto-backflush built in.
  • Showpiece design — heat-exchanger pre-heating, an illuminated rear panel, and custom RAL color options make it a genuine centerpiece for the bar.

About This Machine

What does "Triplette" mean?
Triplette is Kees van der Westen's name for the three-group version of the Spirit. The two-group is the Duette and the four-group is the Quattro — same machine, different group counts. The Triplette suits busy specialty cafes (roughly 300+ cups a day), with three groups working simultaneously for high throughput.
Why is the Spirit considered so thermally stable?
Each group head has its own large, dedicated brew boiler with its own PID, rather than sharing one coffee boiler across groups. Water is also pre-heated through heat exchangers in the steam boiler before reaching the brew boilers. That combination keeps brew temperature exceptionally flat shot after shot, even under heavy back-to-back use.
What's the Bastone, and how does pre-infusion work?
The Bastone is KvdW's signature small activation lever beside each group, offering two programmable volumes plus continuous flow (it can be swapped for a touchpad). Pre-infusion starts the shot at low pressure and progressively ramps up to full extraction pressure, gently wetting the puck to reduce channeling and produce more even, consistent espresso.
Where is it made, and what does installation involve?
Every Spirit is hand-assembled in limited numbers in Waalre, Netherlands, with strict Dutch quality control. As a flagship commercial machine it typically needs plumbed water, drainage, and appropriate electrical service, so professional installation is strongly recommended. Contact our team to confirm installation requirements and lead time before ordering. Tariffs and duties are already included in the price.
